Taconic Distillery, established in 2013, is a purveyor of fine craft spirits located in the Hudson Valley of New York. Handcrafted award-winning bourbon and rye whiskies are distilled in small batches using the finest ingredients, including grains grown in New York and natural spring water from Taconic’s own property.
This straight rye is made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and aged at least 3 years (although Taconic says it’s just shy of 4 years old). This whiskey comes across as more mature than one might expect.
Nose: A delightful aroma of southern banana pudding.
Palate: Crisp vanilla, with notes of tall summer grass, caramel, honey and delicate back palate sweetness.
Finish: Begins with vanilla and transitions to coconut, brown sugar and finally a hint of peanut brittle. Long and sweet.
